Belgium launches family‑friendly water walk and wellness summer bar
The municipality of Grimbergen in Belgium is promoting two new summer activities. The ‘Wondere Waterwandeling’ is a 2.5‑kilometre guided walk for children aged 4‑12 that explores local water, nature and wildlife, with tasks and a souvenir backpack costing €5 plus a €20 refundable deposit. Schepen Chantal Lauwers said, “In het aanbod van de Zomerwandelingen kon het aspect water niet ontbreken”, emphasizing the town’s focus on water as part of its climate‑resilient identity. A heritage bike tour, led by guides, will also run on 25 July and 29 August, highlighting historic sites linked to care and wellbeing.
At the Gentse Feesten, ProVeg opened a summer bar on Steendam offering a quiet space away from the festival’s noise. From 17 July to 26 July, visitors can use hammocks, a sensory room and a music‑free courtyard, and enjoy a detox bar with matcha and mocktails. Free yoga and pilates sessions, a vegetarian‑food exhibition and a preview of Steven Vromman’s play “Zwarte Zwanen” are also scheduled, providing relaxation and cultural content for festival‑goers.
