Belgium raises fuel price caps, diesel hits highest level since May

Effective 10 July 2026, Belgium’s Federal Public Service for the Economy announced new maximum prices for diesel, gasoline and heating oil. Diesel (B7) can reach €2.102 per litre, the highest level since late May, while 95‑octane gasoline may rise to €1.909 per litre and 98‑octane to €2.044 per litre. Heating oil (mazout) prices also increase, adding roughly €115 to a 1 000‑litre purchase.

The price hikes are attributed to volatile international oil markets, driven by renewed geopolitical tension in the Middle East, particularly the Strait of Hormuz. Officials warn that motorists and households will feel a noticeable rise in fuel costs, urging drivers to fill up before the new caps take effect.
