Belgium weather experts report shift toward extreme climate patterns

Meteorologists in Belgium are highlighting a shift toward more extreme and volatile weather patterns. While historical heatwaves occurred in the past, experts note that current warming is characterized by higher intensity and frequency. Recent trends show temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius and significantly higher minimum nighttime temperatures, which prevent infrastructure and nature from cooling down.

Following a period of extreme heat, the weather has transitioned to more unsettled conditions. The Royal Meteorological Institute (KMI) issued a yellow code warning for heavy rain across much of the country, including Brussels and Wallonia, due to an active weather disturbance.

Looking ahead, seasonal forecasts suggest a possibility of a milder autumn, though meteorologists caution that long-term seasonal predictions remain uncertain. The current pattern of alternating between long dry periods and intense rainfall continues to define the regional climate.
