Montenegro reports strong tourism growth and airport passenger records

Montenegro is experiencing a strong tourism season, with 77,000 tourists recorded on a recent Friday, marking an 18 percent increase compared to the same period last year and 2019. Milena Vujović of the National Tourism Organization (NTO) noted that official data from Monstat showed successful growth in June and July. Additionally, tourism residence tax revenue contributing to the state budget has reached two million euros since the start of the year, a 10 percent increase year-on-year.

The aviation sector is also seeing significant growth. Aerodromi Crne Gore (ACG) reported that it has already served three million passengers, reaching this milestone nearly two and a half months earlier than in the previous record-breaking year. Executive Director Roko Tolić stated that this rapid growth highlights increasing accessibility and interest in Montenegro.

Furthermore, the country is advancing its integration into the European aviation market. Ivan Šćekić, director of the Civil Aviation Agency, indicated that Montenegro is in the final stages of joining the Single European Sky via the ECAA agreement, which is expected to increase flight destinations and potentially lower ticket prices.
