Belgrade Chosen as Host for Expo 2027 Specialized Exhibition

On 21 June 2023 the International Bureau of Expositions in Paris announced that Belgrade will host the Expo 2027 specialized exhibition. Serbia secured the bid after a months‑long diplomatic campaign, outperforming competing cities from Malaga (Spain), Bloomington (USA), San Carlos de Bariloche (Argentina) and Phuket (Thailand). The Serbian proposal was built around the theme “Play for humanity: sport and music for all,” emphasizing cultural and social values rather than solely infrastructure.

The decision places Belgrade on the map of major international events and is being marked as a three‑year anniversary, with authorities recalling the intense preparation and international procedure that led to the win.
