Belgrade selects global PR firm for Expo 2027 as project funding slows
The Serbian company EXPO 2027 d.o.o. signed a framework agreement worth 69.5 million dinars with a consortium of MC Group (Berlin) and Stratcom International (Belgrade) to provide global public‑relations support for the specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade. The contract covers development of an international communication strategy, media partnerships, event organization, crisis communication and advisory services. Director Danilo Jerinić said the partnership aims “to increase the global recognition of Belgrade, Serbia and the Expo on key world markets.”
Separate reports note that the handover of exhibition spaces to international participants is slated for 1 December 2026, but construction progress is lagging due to funding shortfalls. Funds are being redirected from other state enterprises, and contractors report delayed payments. Overall project costs, including the Expo site in Surčin and a national stadium, could reach €3.4 billion, with €1.25 billion already allocated for the Expo itself and further spending of €550 million planned for 2026‑27.
