Belgrade to install panoramic balloon on Ada Ciganlija
The municipality of Čukarica approved the construction of a permanent panoramic balloon on Ada Ciganlija, to be situated behind the "Stone City" near the vehicle‑entry ramp. The attraction, manufactured by French company Aerophile, will lift visitors 100‑150 metres for ten‑minute rides offering city, park and landscape views. Operations are slated to begin in autumn 2026, timed to bolster tourism ahead of Expo 2027.
Financing comes from the private developer "Belgrade on Water" and will not cost citizens anything; revenue will support further upgrades of sports, recreational and safety facilities on the island. The project includes extending existing tree lines and planting new high‑growth vegetation, with special measures to protect migrating birds such as the small raven, confirmed by the Serbian Institute for Nature Protection, which granted approval.
The balloon joins a list of similar attractions in cities such as Paris, Berlin, Dubai, San Diego and Seoul, positioning Belgrade as a new destination for both domestic and international visitors.
