Belize investigates reported Guatemalan military airspace violation

Belize is investigating reports of a potential violation of its airspace by a Guatemalan military aircraft. The Belizean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated it has gathered evidence, including GPS coordinates, and plans to issue a formal protest note to Guatemala demanding an explanation. While Guatemala's Ministry of National Defence maintained that its military activities comply with international law, it did not explicitly confirm or deny the aircraft's entry into Belizean territory.

This incident occurs as Belize and Guatemala continue to navigate a long-standing territorial and maritime dispute currently before the International Court of Justice.

Separately, during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister John Briceño addressed several regional and international crises. He called for urgent action in Haiti to support a political transition, renewed Belize's demand to lift the economic blockade against Cuba, and condemned Israel's actions in Gaza, calling for an end to the occupation and genocide in Palestine.
