Ben Shelton targets ATP Finals qualification at Shanghai Masters
American tennis player Ben Shelton is returning to singles competition at the Shanghai Masters, aiming to secure a spot in the ATP Finals in Turin. Following his run to the US Open final, where he became the first American man since Andy Roddick in 2006 to reach the championship match, Shelton has significantly improved his standing in the ATP Live Race To Turin.
Currently ranked third in the race for the season-ending event, the 23-year-old expressed strong motivation to qualify and finish the year in the top five for the first time. Shelton has already secured 39 tour-level wins this season, nearing his career high of 42 set in 2024. He noted that reaching the semifinals in Shanghai could allow him to surpass that milestone. Shelton also highlighted his positive history with the Shanghai tournament, noting it was the site of his first major Masters 1000 breakthrough in 2023.
