Benevento proposed as pilot city for America’s Cup 2027 legacy

Luigi Barone, President of Eutalia, has proposed using the 38th America’s Cup in Naples in 2027 as a catalyst for the economic and cultural development of Campania’s inland areas. In a letter addressed to various Italian ministers and regional leaders, Barone suggested Benevento serve as a pilot city to create a structured model connecting tourism, local production, and cohesion policies.

The proposal aims to ensure that the international attention and economic flows generated by the event in Naples extend to the interior territories, creating a lasting legacy rather than just temporary collateral initiatives. Barone highlighted the Sannio region's historical, cultural, and gastronomic assets as a complementary offering to the visitors expected in Naples.
