Naples accelerates infrastructure and events for 2027 Cup

Preparations for the 2027 America’s Cup in Naples are entering a critical phase. As the 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta approaches (September 24–27, 2026), logistical and technical assessments are underway. BWA Yachting has officially opened superyacht berth bookings, managing requests through a centralized system across eight regional marinas, including Marina di Capri, Marina di Procida, and the undergoing Marina di Bagnoli. Rather than a first-come, first-served model, bookings are evaluated based on vessel specifications such as length overall and draft. A new membership tier has also been introduced to provide owners and guests access to invitation-only social events.

Regarding the upcoming Preliminary Regatta, PalazziGas Events has been selected to design and produce the hospitality areas. A central feature will be the AC38 Club at Castel dell'Ovo, intended for international guests, partners, and institutions. To engage the local community, a Race Village will be established at Rotonda Diaz, offering free public entry, food services, merchandising, and live broadcasts. The competition format will consist of eight fleet races, with three sessions held each afternoon.

Technical evaluations continue as teams prepare for the upcoming regatta. The Swiss team Alinghi, currently operating from a temporary base in Nitida, has described the Gulf of Naples as a “spectacular but technically complex racing field.” The American Racing Challenger team has unveiled its red and white AC40 vessel for competition in the Gulf. International teams, including France’s La Roche-Posay Racing Team and Alinghi, are conducting technical trials, with New Zealand teams and the Italian Luna Rossa team expected to join training sessions shortly. Regional development is expanding beyond sailing, with Naples positioning itself as a global sporting hub. Economic and social tensions remain, specifically regarding the “Volunteer Program.”
