Benevento hosts 14th Notte delle Streghe festival

The 14th edition of the "Notte delle Streghe – Janare Benevento Festival" will take place in the historic centre of Benevento from 24 to 26 July 2026. Organized by the cultural association Sannitamania with support from the Province of Benevento, Coldiretti Benevento and local artisans, the three‑day event features street‑food stalls showcasing local agricultural products, art exhibitions on the legendary Janare, ceramic workshops, concerts of popular folk music, guided tours, book presentations and a special "Janara Experience" at the Arco del Sacramento.

Event promoters Antonio De Cristoforo and Adriana Francesca emphasized the aim of preserving the Janara legend, saying, "È un viaggio sensoriale. Vogliamo perpetuare e tramandare la figura della janara." Province president Nino Lombardi called the festival "un grande evento quasi esclusivo" that highlights Benevento’s cultural heritage. The programme also includes the Premio Janara, awarding twelve researchers and artists, among them Paolo Ascierto.

The festival is expected to attract large numbers of visitors, boosting tourism and promoting the local food and craft sectors.
