Bengal tiger captured in La Barca, Jalisco
A female Bengal tiger, weighing approximately 100 kilograms and aged about one and a half years, was captured in the rural area of La Barca, Jalisco, after roaming free for more than 37 hours.
The animal was reported in the communities of La Providencia and San José de las Moras, where security footage and videos showed it attacking livestock, including sheep and cattle. Authorities utilized drones with thermal cameras, ground patrols, and a specialized trap provided by the Wildlife Rescue Unit of Tlajomulco to locate the feline.
The tiger was secured early Monday morning and appeared to be in good condition without visible injuries. It has been transferred to the Wildlife Rescue Unit of Tlajomulco for medical observation and specialized assessment. The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) has taken jurisdiction over the animal to investigate its origin and determine its final destination.
