INDIA bloc leaders meet President Murmu over electoral integrity concerns

A delegation of 10 leaders from the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Mamata Banerjee, met with President Droupadi Murmu to submit a memorandum regarding alleged electoral irregularities. The opposition has raised serious concerns over “vote chori” (vote theft) and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging widespread manipulation of voter lists and EVMs.

Following the meeting, Rahul Gandhi stated that the President did not reject the allegations but instead requested that the opposition provide evidence to support their claims. The INDIA bloc has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the scrapping of the SIR process, and a return to the use of paper ballots for elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rejected these claims, accusing Rahul Gandhi of politicizing the President’s office and using constitutional institutions for political narratives. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi challenged the opposition to substantiate their allegations with factual evidence and questioned whether their agents had properly verified voter lists during recent elections.

The opposition plans to take their grievances to the Supreme Court of India on Monday to meet with the Chief Justice.
