In Maharashtra, the Chief Electoral Officer reported that roughly 2.07 crore voters, or about 21.15 percent of the state's electorate, may be removed. Political controversy has intensified as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of ‘vote theft.’ Gandhi alleged that the removal of names is a tactic to ensure BJP victories, noting that 39 lakh new voters were added between the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He also cited West Bengal, where he claimed 91 percent of removed names required reinstatement upon appeal.

In the Sindhudurg district, the draft roll records just over 6.05 lakh registered voters across 921 polling stations. The administration reported that more than 82,000 entries were deleted due to death, permanent migration, duplicate entries, or ineligibility. The district comprises the Kankavli, Kudal, and Sawantwadi constituencies.
