Bengaluru to host debut Freedom Habba festival at Vidhana Soudha
Bengaluru is set to host the debut edition of ‘Freedom Habba’, a citizen-led Independence Day celebration, at the Vidhana Soudha on August 15. The event aims to transform the traditional formal ceremony into a public festival featuring music, culture, food, art, and children’s activities.
Scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., the festival will include ‘The People’s India Parade’, a special tour of the Vidhana Soudha, quiz competitions, handicraft exhibitions from various Karnataka districts, a musical concert, and a fireworks display.
Minister Priyank Kharge has met with senior police and Greater Bengaluru Authority officials to review security, traffic management, and crowd control measures. Officials have been directed to ensure pedestrian safety and smooth traffic movement, particularly during the evening concert and fireworks when large crowds are expected.
