Freedom Habba festival in Bengaluru

Overview

Bengaluru is preparing to host the debut edition of ‘Freedom Habba’, a citizen-led festival at the Vidhana Soudha to celebrate Independence Day on August 15. The event is designed to transform traditional formal ceremonies into a public celebration of community participation and diversity under the theme ‘Namma Ooru. Nimma Ooru. Nammellara Bengaluru’.

The festivities include cultural contingents showcasing Karnataka’s folk traditions, food stalls, craft markets, a living museum, and ‘The People’s India Parade’. Educational activities for children, such as quizzes, storytelling, and guided tours, are also planned. The program is expected to conclude with a musical concert, a synchronized light and laser show, and fireworks.

To manage the expected large crowds, officials including Minister Priyank Kharge have met with police and Greater Bengaluru Authority representatives to review security, traffic management, and pedestrian safety measures.
