Bengaluru to receive ₹8,000 crore road improvement boost

The Karnataka government is launching a major road improvement initiative in Bengaluru, covering approximately 2,500 km of roads at an estimated cost of ₹8,000 crore. The project includes asphalt resurfacing and white-topping under various programs, such as the Chief Minister’s Infrastructure Development Programme (CMIDP) and the State Special Infrastructure Programme (SSIP).

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has directed officials to accelerate these works, maintain strict quality control, and conduct continuous field-level monitoring. He also ordered an immediate survey and priority repair of potholes on the city’s arterial and sub-arterial roads, stating that once major roads are addressed, focus will shift to ward roads.

To ensure progress, the Minister will hold monthly review meetings to monitor civic works and grievances within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) area. Additionally, an auditing system will be implemented to track the activities of Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited and Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Development Limited.
