Bengkulu Local Governments Roll Out Flag Campaign and PPPK Initiative Ahead of Independence Day

The Bengkulu Selatan Regency government has urged all residents to fly the Indonesian red‑white flag continuously from 1 to 31 August 2026, marking the nation’s 81st Independence Day. The call, announced by Deputy Regent Yevri Sudianto, includes free distribution of flags, deployment of the local Paskibraka unit and coordination with police and village officials to ensure widespread participation.

Meanwhile, the city of Bengkulu is placing contract‑based civil servants (PPPK) in every urban village (kelurahan) to conduct a comprehensive census of property and land assets. Mayor Dedy Wahyudi says the effort will update the land‑and‑building tax (PBB) database, improve the accuracy of tax records and boost the city’s own revenue (PAD). Local officials, including village heads and community leaders, will work with the PPPK staff to verify household and building information.

Both measures aim to strengthen civic engagement and increase local government finances as the province prepares for the national holiday celebrations.
