Indonesian local government Independence Day initiatives
Overview
In preparation for Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, various local government entities in Bengkulu and Bengkalis provinces initiated community-focused programs.
In Bengkulu Selatan, the regency government launched a flag campaign urging residents to fly the national red-and-white flag throughout August. Simultaneously, the city of Bengkulu deployed contract-based civil servants (PPPK) to urban villages to conduct a census of property and land assets, an effort intended to update tax databases and increase local revenue.
In Bengkalis, the Customs Office conducted social services in Sungai Pakning to mark the anniversary. This initiative included communal prayers and the distribution of basic food assistance packages to residents in need to strengthen the relationship between government institutions and the public.
