Bengkulu Police Seize 38 Motorcycles in Exhaust Crackdown

On 4 July 2026, the Satlantas unit of the Bengkulu Police conducted a raid at Belungguk Point, detaining 38 motorcyclists using non‑standard, loud exhausts (known locally as “knalpot brong”). The majority of the violators were students, some under the legal driving age. Police deployed plain‑clothes officers who disabled the bikes by removing the ignition keys to prevent drivers from fleeing.

All riders were ticketed under traffic regulations, and their motorcycles were impounded at the Bengkulu police station for one month pending further processing. The operation aims to reduce noise pollution and improve road safety in the city.

The crackdown follows earlier routine checks, but officials noted that illegal exhausts remain common despite repeated enforcement actions.
