Beni Suef inspections reveal numerous food supply violations
Supply and internal trade authorities in Egypt's Beni Suef governorate carried out extensive inspections of municipal bakeries, markets and other commercial food outlets. The campaigns, overseen by engineer Mohamed Abdel‑Rahman and Dr. Ahmed Antar, resulted in dozens of violation reports and legal actions.
Inspectors seized 23 sacks of subsidized flour, 6 additional sacks, 330 kg of expired meat and fish, 7 sacks of unknown‑origin flour, and various other food items lacking proper documentation. They also recorded infractions such as under‑weighed bread (short by 5‑13 g), use of unclean dough‑mixing tools, failure to provide bread‑distribution vouchers, absence of calibrated scales, and production of non‑conforming bread. Additional breaches included the sale of expired or unverified goods, lack of health certificates, illegal chemicals in juice shops, and failure to display prices.
The investigations led to the issuance of 15 municipal bakery violation reports, 18 general violation records, and 10 minor criminal cases for health‑related offenses. Authorities emphasized that daily monitoring will continue to prevent fraud, ensure subsidy reach to eligible citizens, and protect public health.
