Benialí residents protest homophobic attack on five minors

Five 14-year-old girls were victims of a homophobic attack in Benialí, located in the Vall de Gallinera region, during local patron saint festivities. Three youths, aged between 16 and 17, reportedly targeted the group after noticing that two of the girls were a couple. The attackers used homophobic slurs and shouted far-right slogans, including ‘Viva Franco’ and ‘Viva Vox’.

During the incident, the attackers physically assaulted the minors, pushing and hitting them to the ground. One girl sustained a bruised eye and injuries to her knees, requiring hospital attention. The victims have since filed a formal complaint with the Guardia Civil.

The attack has caused widespread indignation in the small community. More than a hundred residents held a protest in front of the Casa del Consell to denounce the violence. Local institutions, including the Ayuntamiento de la Vall de Gallinera, have issued statements condemning the hate crime and expressing absolute repulsion toward the incident.
