Benin President Wadagni Meets Ivory Coast Leader Ouattara in Diplomatic Push

On 4 June 2026 Benin President Romuald Wadagni travelled to Abidjan for an official meeting with Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara. The heads of state reviewed bilateral cooperation, stressing the need to deepen economic ties within the UEMOA bloc, boost investment in agriculture, energy and logistics, and maintain security coordination across West Africa.

In a related diplomatic development, Nigeria appointed Mopelola Adéola‑Ibrahim as its new ambassador to Benin. She presented her credentials to Benin Foreign Minister Corinne Amori Brunet, affirming the countries’ long‑standing partnership and pledging to enhance trade, cultural and political links. Ibrahim noted the recent visit of President Wadagni to Nigeria as a sign of growing regional collaboration.
