Benjamín Noval wins two junior world cycling titles

Spanish cyclist Benjamín Noval has secured two junior world titles at the World Championships in Montréal, winning both the time trial and the road race. The 17-year-old, who will join Netcompany INEOS next year, achieved his first junior world title in the time trial with a winning time of 25:17, finishing 21 seconds ahead of the previous provisional leader.

Reports from El País indicate that Noval narrowly avoided a suspension two years ago. In April 2024, at age 15, he reportedly underwent an effort test with coach Jose ‘Pepe’ Martí, a figure currently serving a doping ban until June 2027. While the Spanish anti-doping agency (CELAD) sought an 18-month suspension for the rider, the case was declared inadmissible in November 2025 because the legal proceedings exceeded the one-year statute of limitations. Noval stated he was unaware of the specific regulations regarding the coach's status.
