2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montreal

Preparations are underway for the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montreal, Canada, which will feature road race and time trial events for men and women from September 20 to 27.

National delegations are finalizing their rosters. The Italian Cycling Federation (FCI) has officially presented its expanded squad of 47 athletes during an event in Matera, marking the first time such a presentation has been held in Southern Italy. Notable members of the Italian squad include two-time time trial world champion Filippo Ganna, Elisa Longo Borghini, Alberto Bettiol, Matteo Trentin, Diego Ulissi, and rising talent Lorenzo Mark Finn. The team will select specific starters for the individual time trial and road race from this group. Additionally, the FCI signed a memorandum of understanding with APT Basilicata to promote cycling tourism and sustainable mobility in the region.

In Belgium, national coach Serge Pauwels has announced his selection, which includes stars Remco Evenepoel and Wout van Aert. However, Tim Wellens has declined to participate, citing workload management and professional team commitments.

Other participating nations identified include Japan, the United States, Guatemala, and Mexico. To support the event, the FCI confirmed the return of ‘Spazio Azzurri’, a dedicated hub in Montreal for media, guests, and institutional representatives. The championship schedule includes individual time trials on September 20, the women’s road race on September 26, and the men’s road race on September 27.
