Bentley unveils Torcal, its first fully electric luxury SUV
Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, the luxury automaker’s first fully electric model and its first new model line in a decade. Developed at the company’s Crewe headquarters, the SUV is built on the Volkswagen Group’s 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture.
The Torcal will be available in two versions: a standard model and a high-performance Torcal S. The Torcal S is positioned as the most powerful production Bentley ever built, delivering up to 888 horsepower and 1,350 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 2.9 seconds. Both models feature a 113 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 600 km (WLTP) and supporting 400 kW fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 16 minutes.
Design elements include a new digital language with an illuminated diamond-pattern grille and a cabin featuring curved OLED displays and sustainable materials like Merino wool. To maintain brand identity, Bentley has developed a digital soundscape inspired by its traditional V8 engines. The company has invested £350 million into its Crewe facility to support this transition, a move intended to secure 4,000 existing jobs.
