Bentley unveils Torcal electric SUV

Overview

Bentley Motors has officially unveiled the Torcal, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s transition toward electrification. The vehicle is scheduled to enter the market in 2026, serving as the fourth model line for the Crewe-based automaker following the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga.

Developed at the company’s Crewe headquarters, the Torcal is built on the Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, sharing technical foundations with the Porsche Cayenne Electric. It features a 113 kWh battery and an 800-volt electrical system capable of DC fast-charging up to 400 kW, which allows for a 10-to-80 percent charge in roughly 16 to 20 minutes. The SUV will be available in two versions: a base Core specification and a high-performance Torcal S. The S variant is expected to produce up to 888 hp and 1,350 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in approximately 2.9 seconds. The battery pack offers a WLTP-rated range of up to 600 km.

The Torcal introduces a new visual language for the brand, characterized by an illuminated diamond-pattern grille and a long, prominent bonnet. To enhance maneuverability, the model includes standard rear-wheel steering, resulting in a minimum turning diameter of 11.1 meters. Interior features include curved OLED screens, physical switches, and new material options such as 100% merino wool alongside traditional leather and wood.

To support this strategic pivot, Bentley has invested £350 million into its Crewe manufacturing facility, a move intended to secure 4,000 existing jobs. New technical features include fully active suspension and a bespoke “Bentley Dynamic Symphony” acoustic experience, designed to evoke the character of a V8 engine through orchestral and percussion sounds.
