Benue Governor Alia briefs President Tinubu on security and projects ahead of 2027 vote

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia met President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after the state’s 50th‑anniversary celebrations. Alia briefed the president on the improved security situation, the voluntary return of internally displaced persons during the farming season, and ongoing development projects, including the recently commissioned Benue Food and Fruit Processing Company, a pending beer factory and fruit‑juice plant, and ten urban‑renewal roads inaugurated by the first lady.

He also discussed the political climate following the APC primaries, noting some agitations but expressing confidence the party would stay united. Alia pledged to deliver at least 620,000 votes for Tinubu in the 2027 general election, more than double the 310,468 votes the president obtained in Benue in 2023, and highlighted former Governor Gabriel Suswam’s recent alignment with the APC as a boost for the party in the state.
