Benue, Nigeria: Ochetoha K'Idoma Condemns Killing of Fulani Leaders, Demands Justice

The Ochetoha K’Idoma Forum Worldwide, the apex socio‑cultural organisation of the Idoma Nation, issued a strong condemnation of the killing of Fulani community leader Ardo Risku Mohammed and Mr Yakubu Isah in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State. Both men had attended a police‑convened peace and security meeting before being attacked and killed. In a statement signed by President General Prof. Yakubu Aboki Ochefu and Secretary General Chief Paul Edeh, the forum called on security agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators, stating that “no grievance justifies taking innocent lives.”

The forum urged equal empathy for all victims, warned against attributing the attack to any ethnic group, and criticised successive federal and state governments for failing to address the worsening insecurity in Benue. It called for restraint in public commentary to avoid inflaming ethnic tensions and emphasized that criminal responsibility must be personal, not collective.
