Benue State armed herders raid injures resident and fuels political tension

On July 16, 2026, suspected armed herders entered the Ankpechi community in Oglewu Ward of Ohimini LGA, Benue State, opening fire and injuring one resident before looting food stores. Local officials confirmed the victim was taken to hospital and described the attackers as operating nearby.
