FK Borac Banja Luka faces UEFA complaint over glorification of Ratko Mladić

Victim advocacy groups, including the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Movement of Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves, have filed a formal complaint with UEFA. They are requesting disciplinary proceedings against the football club FK Borac Banja Luka for repeated instances of glorifying Ratko Mladić, a convicted war criminal.

The complaint alleges a documented pattern of behavior rather than isolated incidents. Specific examples cited include chants during matches against Željezničar in October 2024, an incident in May 2026, and a match against Velež Mostar on August 9, 2026, which was interrupted after players were sent to the locker rooms due to Mladić-related chants. The Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina previously sanctioned the club for racism and discrimination following the August 9 incident.

Further incidents mentioned include a public tribute to Mladić on August 27, 2026, and a match against Radnik Bijeljina on August 30, 2026, which was also interrupted. The associations are calling on UEFA to investigate the club's responsibility and determine if adequate measures have been taken to prevent, condemn, and sanction such discriminatory and nationalist behavior in accordance with UEFA disciplinary regulations.
