Berazategui bus fire and Villa El Salvador warehouse blaze reported
Two separate major fire incidents occurred in Argentina and Peru.
In Berazategui, Argentina, a Line 219 bus operated by Micro Ómnibus Quilmes S. A. was completely destroyed by fire at the intersection of Mitre Avenue and 27th Street. The driver successfully evacuated 25 passengers, including children and an infant, before the vehicle was consumed. The blaze caused damage to nearby homes and a local business, and disrupted electrical and telephone infrastructure. Authorities are investigating whether the cause was mechanical or electrical.
In Villa El Salvador, Peru, a large-scale fire broke out at a recycling and scrap metal warehouse on Los Algarrobos Street. At least 16 firefighting units were deployed to combat the flames, which produced a large smoke column visible across multiple districts. Local authorities provided water tankers to assist firefighters, and medical units were deployed to provide pre-hospital care. Efforts to control the fire were complicated by wind and limited access to hydrants.
