Bergamo police arrest 26-year-old for drug trafficking
The Bergamo Local Police arrested a 26-year-old man, of Liberian origin and without a fixed residence, for drug trafficking near the city's railway station on September 29.
The operation began around 10:00 PM after officers stopped a young individual in possession of hashish. Using descriptions provided by the buyer regarding the suspect's appearance and his use of a scooter, officers and a canine unit named Tenai located a man retrieving items from a hedge near the Piazzale Marconi Info Point.
After attempting to flee on a scooter, the suspect was intercepted by a second patrol near a McDonald’s. A search, aided by the drug-sniffing dog, uncovered over 144 grams of cannabinoids, already packaged into doses for sale, hidden in the man's clothing. Authorities also seized 1,150 euros in cash believed to be proceeds from the activity, along with the scooter used in the commission of the crime.
