Berkshire Hathaway completes $8.5 billion acquisition of Taylor Morrison

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. completed its acquisition of Taylor Morrison Home Corp., paying $72.50 per share in cash and valuing the company at roughly $6.8 billion in equity and $8.5 billion on an enterprise basis.

Shareholders approved the merger on July 22, with 75.83 million votes in favor. The transaction merges Taylor Morrison’s brands—including Esplanade, Yardly and Taylor Morrison Home Funding—with Berkshire’s Clayton Properties Group. The combined operation closed nearly 23,000 site‑built homes in 2025 across 21 states and 52 housing markets, positioning it as the fourth‑largest homebuilder in the United States. CEOs Sheryl Palmer of Taylor Morrison and Greg Abel of Berkshire Hathaway said the deal expands reach while preserving local expertise.
