Berkshire Hathaway acquisition of Taylor Morrison
Entities: Sheryl Palmer · Clayton Properties Group · Greg Abel · Taylor Morrison Home Corp. · Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
Overview
In July 2026 Berkshire Hathaway announced and completed its cash purchase of homebuilder Taylor Morrison. The company paid $72.50 per share, valuing Taylor Morrison at about $6.8 billion in equity and roughly $8.5 billion on an enterprise basis. The transaction merged Taylor Morrison’s brands—Esplanade, Yardly and Taylor Morrison Home Funding—into Berkshire’s Clayton Properties Group, which already includes Clayton Homes. Shareholders approved the merger on July 22, and CEOs Sheryl Palmer (Taylor Morrison) and Greg Abel (Berkshire) said the deal expands reach while preserving local expertise. The combined operation closed nearly 23,000 site‑built homes in 2025 across 21 states and 52 housing markets, positioning it as the fourth‑largest homebuilder in the United States.
