Berlin and Schwalm‑Eder‑Kreis launch 2026 Stadtradeln bike challenges
Germany’s major urban cycling campaign, Stadtradeln, kicks off in two regions in 2026. In Berlin, the event runs from 20 May to 9 June and builds on a record‑breaking 2025 season in which more than 35,000 participants logged roughly 6.9 million kilometres and saved over 1,100 tonnes of CO₂. The city offers free guided tours, a bike‑check at the ADFC stand and a mass ride on 7 June, encouraging residents, workers and students to join team rides.
Meanwhile, the Schwalm‑Eder‑Kreis district in Hesse starts its edition on 31 May, running until 20 June. The opening ceremony on Homberg’s market square includes a bike blessing, a city‑exploration walk and food stalls. Both campaigns aim to promote cycling for health, climate protection and a more bike‑friendly urban environment.
