Germany 2026 Stadtradeln expands with new municipal records
Entities: Mario Götz · Heppenheim · Guido Sträßle · Rainer Bender · Leutkirch
Overview
The 2026 Stadtradeln bike challenge kept growing through late July, with the Rhein‑Neckar‑Kreis remaining the top district at 2,422,062 km ridden by 11,651 participants and an estimated avoidance of 397 t of CO₂. Other strong performers such as Landkreis Haßberge, Neumarkt, Bamberg and Traunstein also posted high totals, pushing the campaign well beyond the previous year’s figures.
Participation in smaller municipalities continued to rise. In Heppenheim, 482 cyclists covered 76,022 km, saving about 12 t of CO₂, while Stockstadt in Kreis Groß‑Gerau logged 27,200 km with 177 riders, avoiding roughly 4,461 t. Aulendorf hosted 507 cyclists who together rode 138,000 km; Guido Sträßle led the men’s leaderboard with 1,860 km and Andrea Seeger topped the women’s ranking with 1,153 km.
Further records came from Bad Kissingen, where 966 cyclists rode 249,878 km and saved 37.5 t of CO₂, and from Karlshuld, where participants covered 91,346 km despite extreme heat, with the team Bayernfanclub Bierstüberl contributing 19,055 km. Individual highlights included Lucy Klinder’s 1,317.8 km ride in Bad Kissingen and Philipp Lehmeier’s 2,656 km in Karlshuld.
School and kindergarten involvement remained strong, with awards for top teams and continued emphasis on everyday cycling as a pillar of Germany’s climate‑friendly mobility and public‑health strategy.
