Berlin Die Linke party faces controversy over rapper's violent lyrics

A political controversy has emerged within the Berlin branch of the Die Linke party following a campaign event in Neukölln. During the rally, the rapper Dahabflex performed lyrics including “Yalla yalla Intifada” and “Death to the IDF,” referencing the Marxist-Leninist PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine).

Die Linke’s top candidate, Elif Eralp, condemned the performance, stating that calls for violence and the killing of people are “absolutely unacceptable.” While the party's state executive board held an emergency meeting and unanimously declared such calls unacceptable, no immediate disciplinary measures have been taken against the Neukölln district association.

The board has instead mandated that the Neukölln branch must coordinate future campaign events with the state executive and is awaiting proposals for conclusions following an investigation by the party's ombudsman.
