Berlin Philharmonic conducts South American tour in Colombia and Argentina
The Berlin Philharmonic is conducting an international tour through South America, including performances in Colombia and Argentina. In Colombia, the orchestra performed at the Julio Mario Santo Domingo theater to sold-out crowds, featuring pianist Víkingur Ólafsson performing Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 alongside works by Richard Strauss, Edward Elgar, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The tour continues in Argentina, where the orchestra returns to the Teatro Colón for the first time in 26 years. Under the direction of Kirill Petrenko, the program includes Brahms and Strauss, as well as Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. Ólafsson, who replaced Daniil Trifonov due to an injury, will perform the piano concerto during the Argentine dates.
