Berlin plans ZLB library relocation to Alexanderplatz

Berlin Finance Senator Stefan Evers has announced the completion of a draft Letter of Intent regarding the relocation of the Zentral- und Landesbibliothek (ZLB). The plan involves moving the library into the Galeria Kaufhof building at Alexanderplatz.

Negotiations are ongoing with the property owner, Commerz Real, with the goal of reaching an agreement before the Berlin elections in September. The ZLB currently operates out of two buildings in Kreuzberg and Mitte that require significant renovation. While a fundamental understanding has been reached, price negotiations remain a key factor in the process.
