Berlin police raid queer community center Casa Kuà

Police conducted a raid on the Casa Kuà community center in Berlin-Kreuzberg during a meeting of 'The Dolls,' a self-help group for transfeminine individuals. Approximately 38 officers from the LKA entered the premises, where they detained participants for up to four hours and recorded their personal details.

Authorities stated the search was based on suspicions of violating the Medicines Act, specifically alleging that hormone preparations were being distributed without medical supervision or proper authorization. During the operation, police seized various items, including medication, data carriers, and cash.

Representatives of Casa Kuà described the raid as an attack on a marginalized community and a form of repression against queer and migrant groups. They argued that the state is criminalizing community self-help instead of addressing structural issues within the healthcare system.

In response, a crowdfunding campaign titled 'Casa Kuà & The Dolls community support' was launched to secure the financial stability of the initiatives, raising nearly 14,000 euros within 24 hours. Additionally, activists have organized protests under the motto 'Hands Off Trans Lives' to demonstrate against the police action.
