Berlin police raid of Casa Kuà community center

On October 20, 2026, approximately 38 police officers from the LKA raided the Casa Kuà community center in Berlin-Kreuzberg during a meeting of ‘The Dolls,’ a self-help group for transfeminine individuals. Authorities stated the operation was based on suspicions of violating the Medicines Act, specifically regarding the unauthorized distribution of hormone preparations. During the raid, police seized medication, cash, and data carriers, detaining participants for several hours.

Representatives of Casa Kuà characterized the action as an attack on a marginalized community and an attempt to criminalize community self-help. In response to the raid, a crowdfunding campaign raised nearly 14,000 euros within 24 hours to support the initiatives.

By October 24, hundreds of protesters gathered at Mariannenplatz under the slogan ‘Hands off trans lives!’ to demonstrate in solidarity with the center. Critics, including members of the Left Party and the organization Bundesverband Trans*, have condemned the raids, citing regulatory gaps in the German healthcare system that make accessing hormone treatments through standard medical practices difficult for transgender people.
