Bertem to host installation of 4,000-ton arch bridge over E40

The Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer is scheduled to install a new arch bridge over the E40 in Bertem during the night of Saturday, October 10, to Sunday, October 11. The steel structure weighs 4,000 tons and stands 30 meters high.

The operation will utilize Self Propelled Modular Trailers (SPMTs) to move the bridge from its construction site to its final position. Due to the immense weight, the placement will be a gradual process. A viewing zone will be available for the public near Tervuursesteenweg 308 from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with authorities recommending visitors arrive by foot or bicycle.
