Bethesda confirms Fallout 5 pre‑production, Fallout 3 & New Vegas remasters

Bethesda Game Studios announced that Fallout 5 has entered the pre‑production phase and will be built on the new Creation Engine 3. The studio said the project remains a long‑term goal while The Elder Scrolls VI stays its primary focus. In the same statement the company confirmed that remastered versions of Fallout 3 and Fallout : New Vegas are now in development, though no release dates were provided.

Todd Howard emphasized that the team is “where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day,” and added that Bethesda will continue supporting its live‑service titles such as Fallout 76, Fallout Shelter, and Starfield. A prequel titled Raven Rock for Fallout 76 is slated for 2027, and a new Fallout entry is being co‑developed with Obsidian Entertainment.

The announcements come amid recent layoffs at Bethesda, which Howard described as “very hard days” for the studio, but he said the company remains committed to delivering the next chapter of the franchise.
