Bethwel Kibet Chumba wins the Buenos Aires International Marathon

The 42nd edition of the Buenos Aires International Marathon saw a record turnout of 16,384 participants from 64 countries. Despite challenging weather conditions, including 18°C temperatures and nearly 90% humidity, the event highlighted the high competitive level of the region.

In the men's category, Kenyan runner Bethwel Kibet Chumba secured victory with a time of approximately 2:08:22. He was followed by Rwandan runner John Hakizimana in second place and fellow Kenyan Felix Kiptoo Kirwa in third. For the Argentine delegation, Ignacio Erario was the top performer, finishing ninth overall with a time of 2:16:34.

In the women's category, Kenyan athlete Rebecca Kangogo Chesir set a new course record with a time of 2:23:31. She was followed by her compatriot Rodah Jepkorir Tanui. The top Argentine female finisher was Chiara Mainetti, who completed the race in 2:38:25.
