BEVCO reports ₹771.29 crore in liquor sales during Onam

The Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) reported liquor sales of ₹771.29 crore during the first eight days of the Onam festival. This represents an increase of approximately ₹77 crore compared to the same period last year, when sales totaled ₹694.96 crore.

On the Uthradam day alone, sales reached ₹126.31 crore, which was lower than the ₹137.64 crore recorded on the same day in the previous year. Despite this specific daily dip, overall seasonal sales are trending higher than 2025 levels. Officials noted that BEVCO requires roughly ₹55.09 crore more in sales to surpass the total Onam season revenue of ₹826.38 crore recorded in 2025.

Data from the Excise Department also indicates a surge in beer consumption. Beer sales in Kerala have risen by 29.2% this year, with beer now accounting for 32.66% of combined liquor sales, up from 29.15% last year.
