Bex Space Economy Expo opens in Rimini
The first edition of Bex – Beyond Exploration Expo, organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (Ieg), has opened at the Rimini Expo Centre. The event focuses on the convergence between the space economy and terrestrial industries, bringing together companies, research centers, and startups to explore technologies that bridge space and ground-based sectors.
Data from the Politecnico di Milano Space Economy Observatory indicates significant growth potential, noting that while only 10% of large Italian companies in other sectors currently have active space technology projects, 55% view it as a viable area for diversification. The global space market is currently valued between $550 billion and $600 billion annually, with projections from the World Economic Forum and McKinsey suggesting it could reach $1.8 trillion by 2035.
Italy maintains a strong position in the sector, ranking seventh globally for the number of active satellites and investing more than the average of other advanced nations. The national aerospace supply chain is valued at 21.4 billion euros, with the space component alone having grown by 63% over the last three years.
