Turkey conducts nationwide crackdown on drugs, prostitution, and fraud

The Turkish Ministry of Interior has announced the results of a massive, nationwide crackdown on organized crime. In a series of coordinated operations spanning 75 provinces over a 10-day period, law enforcement targeted drug trafficking, human exploitation, and fraud.

In the narcotics operations, which utilized 1,945 teams, 4,863 personnel, 18 aircraft, and 45 narcotic detection dogs, authorities seized 985.777 kilograms of drugs and over 1.5 million narcotic pills. The operations led to the detention of 1,297 suspects, with 714 resulting in arrests and 179 subject to judicial control.

Separate investigations in Bursa targeted organized prostitution involving massage parlors. Police rescued 21 women and detained 12 suspects, seizing approximately 11 million lira in assets, including vehicles and real estate.

In Istanbul, authorities apprehended a gang that defrauded a 79-year-old retiree of 15 million lira by posing as police officers. The suspects reportedly converted the stolen cash and jewelry into cryptocurrency and transferred it to a cold wallet.
