BGDA launches copyright law awareness campaign in Boké

The Bureau Guinéen du Droit d’Auteur (BGDA), under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts, launched a national campaign in the Boké region on September 17, 2026, to disseminate legislative and regulatory texts regarding copyright and neighboring rights.

The initiative aims to equip local administrative authorities, including mayors, municipal secretaries, and judicial police officers, with the legal tools necessary to enforce copyright laws. The campaign focuses on the role of territorial administrative authorities in applying these laws to protect artistic and literary works.

Ismaël Vita Goumou, Inspector General of the Ministry of Culture and Handicrafts, noted that the campaign seeks to bring legislation closer to citizens and creators. He emphasized that culture, particularly through digital content creation, serves as a driver for job creation and local economic stability. Local officials, including Boké's first deputy mayor Abdoulaye Mané, expressed support for the initiative as a means to affirm Guinea's cultural identity.
